Court wanted shelter home for dogs

Shillong, Feb 10: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the Shillong Municipal Board to construct a dog shelter home within 30 days.
After hearing a PIL in this regard, the bench comprising Chief Justice IP Mukerji and Justice W Diengdoh said the Shillong Municipal Board has filed an affidavit and it appears that the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of the State government has a shelter for dogs and was approached by the Municipal Board to accommodate the animals captured by them.
However, the court directed the Municipal Board to ensure as far as possible that theĀ construction for shelter home is completed within the stipulated time and the street dogs are provided shelter there.
The court also expressed happiness over shifting zoo from the city to Ri Bhoi.
