Shillong, May 10: A student from the city got a CUET-UG centre at Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Island due to confusion arising out of choice of four centres while applying.
Since it is mandatory to submit the names of 4 centres while applying online, the students had no other choice than mentioning centres other than Shillong and Tura.
“What to do, many students were compelled to opt for two centres outside the state and the particular student put Port Blair also without knowing the implications”, said a student.
Several students, who got the CUET centres outside the state, including Assam, Manipur, Nagaland , Tripura except Manipur on Saturday demanded centres in the state itself.
The students addressed media persons in the city and decided to petition Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
Earlier on May 8, the state education department had written to National Testing Agency to address the issue of CUET centres stressing the need to have them in Meghalaya.
