Shillong, Sept 16: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday condoled the death of Kyiek Mukhim, who took care of many child births.
“Today we lost Kong Kyiek Mukhim, 88, a nurse and midwife who assisted over a thousand childbirths in remote Kharang village in East Khasi Hills district. She served the people at a time when healthcare institutions were 40 kilometers away. She was a compassionate human being and her extraordinary service is a story that inspires each of us. May her good soul rest well”, said the chief minister’s social media post.
