CM downplays criticism by AITC leader

Shillong,July 4: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has downplayed the criticism by AITC leader Abhishek Banerjee by stating that he is committed to work for the people and the state.
The chief minister refused to comment on the allegations made by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee that the former is a conman and that the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) is running a proxy government of BJP.
“Really, it is not my concern. Anybody is free in democracy to make comments. They make their comments at their own will. I don’t think I need to get into that as I have a lot of things to do and I think these issues need to be resolved and that we are working on it. So I have no comments,” Sangma told reporters on Monday.
To a further query whether he is digesting the allegations against him, the chief minister said, “I don’t need to digest anything. As I said I have work to do and I am doing my work with my full commitment towards the people and that’s all that matters to me.”
“We run a state, we have lots of work to do and I don’t think there is any reason for me to comment on all comments that are made by people,” he said.
