CM meets central ministers, seeks funds for various projects
Conrad discusses infra projects, ornamental aqua park & medical skill devp centre
Shillong, Feb 16 (UNI): Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is in New Delhi, on Wednesday met central ministers to seek assistance for various schemes.
Sangma, who called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, sought her intervention in enhancing central allocation of funds for the state for undertaking several infrastructure projects during the financial year 2022-2023.
Sangma, who also holds the finance portfolio, thanked the Union finance minister for expanding the Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure to Rs 1 lakh crore.
In a separate meeting with Union Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar, the Chief Minister sought his support for the proposed state-of-the-art Ornamental Aqua Park with an aquarium for over 250 endemic fish species of the North East in Meghalaya with technical collaboration with the United Arab Emirates.
During his meeting today with Union minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Sangma thanked the latter for accepting the proposal of the state government to set up a unique Medical Skill Development Centre in Meghalaya and invited him for the foundation laying function of the project.
