Shillong, May 25: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday visited Ganesh Das Hospital and Reid Provincial Chest Hospital, in the city, to inspect the installation of oxygen plants.
The oxygen generation plants in both these city hospitals are funded through the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund.
The Oxygen Plant at Ganesh Das Hospital has a capacity of 400 LPM and can support a minimum of 40 beds with high flow oxygen. The oxygen plant at RP Chest Hospital has a capacity of 300 LPM and can support a minimum of 30 beds with high flow oxygen.
The chief minister expressed satisfaction at the progress of the installation work and informed that the plant at R P Chest Hospital will be made operational in two days’ time.
The plant at Ganesh Das Hospital is already operational.
The chief minister also said that oxygen plants are being set up at different locations across the state.
‘We are keeping a close watch to ensure that these are completed on time and that all the different infrastructures are ready and in place, to deal with any eventuality’, the chief minister said.
During his visit, the chief minister also held discussions with doctors and medical teams of both hospitals on various issues including bed capacity and manpower requirement.
