Coal seepage, mining damage paddy field: EJH resident
Shillong, July 21: A resident of East Jaintia Hills has sought the intervention of the government as her paddy field is facing threat from seepage of dumped coal and rat-hole mining.
Ridiya Dkhar of Moolang village (in picture) met activist Agnes Kharshiing, on Thursday to take up her case with the authorities.

Dkhar alleged that the seepage of dumped coal from the adjacent area has damaged her land, especially the paddy field.
Moreover, mining activities beneath her land by a coal mine owner is also a threat to farming activities.
She sought compensation from agriculture and mining departments.
