Shillong, Nov 27: The chairman of the inquiry commission on Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew , Justice (retd) T Vaiphei received a notification on Saturday issued by the state government on November 20 giving one-month extension to complete the probe.
The commission was amused over the state of affairs and the stand of the government as the commission will get hardly three weeks before Christmas.
“The date of one-month extension is from November 20 which was received by me on Saturday (November 27), Vaiphei said.
In the past ,the inquiry commissions used to get extension for three months or six months depending on the nature of work.
The chairman had come to the office of the inquiry commission for a hearing on Friday but no one turned up and he was also upset as extension was not granted on time since he completed only five sittings.
The commission is probing the circumstances leading to the death of the former HNLC general secretary on August 13.
