Shillong, Jan 15: The opposition Congress has formed committees on manifesto, campaign and cordination for 2023 Assembly polls.
The MPCC president Vincent Pala told reporters on Saturday after chairing a meeting that the party has decided to form the campaign committee, manifesto committee and the coordination committee which will have to be approved by the high command.
“Hopefully by the end of the month, all these committees will be approved and maybe by February we can have the general meeting of the executive members of the committee,” Pala said.
He said the coordination committee will be to coordinate between the AICC and MPCC on who should be the star campaigners for 2023 polls.
The committee will also decide the venues where Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, P Chidambaram will be invited, he said. A farmer’s cell was also formed during the meeting.
Pala said the party also discussed on enrolment as the last date is on March 31.
The CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh said these committees are important as they prepare the party for the 2023 elections.
The manifesto committee would be working full time, Lyngdoh said, adding the people of the state want the Congress party to come clear on what will be its main agenda if voted to office.
“We have requested MLAs and MDCs to forward some of their thoughts, some of the important issues that are relevant in their area so that we can consolidate on all of this information and come up with a very strong straightforward manifesto which will be a huge strength of the party,” she said.
“We are also looking at ensuring that all the 60 constituencies in the state of Meghalaya are functional by February,” Lyngdoh said .
