Shillong, July 6: MPCC president Vincent Pala has said everyone is welcome to join the party even as he asserted that for certain category of leaders, the party high command will take a decision..
“Congress is like a mother party, which gives chance for everyone but we have a system. For example anybody can join the party, we cannot say A-B cannot join but for certain category of the leaders, there is a procedure where the AICC has to take a call,” Pala told reporters on Saturday after felicitating Tura MP Saleng Sangma in the city.
When asked on welcoming the deserter, Pala said, “So Ronnie V Lyngdoh’s assessment is perfect. He said the party welcome everyone but there is a system while Saleng said no, because there is a system in it, so I think it is correct as the system will decide.”
“If anybody likes ex-chief minister, MLA or cabinet minister if they join the party, there’s a system, so the system will decide we will not discriminate, we will not hesitate, will definitely work and talk together. Congress is for everyone, it is not for individual.”
Ronnie recently said the Congress would welcome former chief minister Mukul Sangma to join back the party which is in contradiction to the statement made by the Tura MP Saleng that the party would not like Mukul and his brother Zenith Sangma to return to Congress.
