Congress secures largest vote share despite defeat in three seats

NOTA gets more percentage than BJP

Shillong, Nov 4: Though the Congress was defeated in all the three bypoll seats, it still has the the largest vote share compared to other political parties in the state.

According to the assessment of Election Commission of India, the Congress has 36.18% vote share followed by NPP with 36.13 %, UDP (23.85), BJP (0.39), others (2.73) and NOTA (0.71).

The votes secured by the Congress candidates in Rajabala, Mawphlang and Mawryngkneng are 9897, 8884 and 12361 respectively.

Congress legislator Ampareen Lyngdoh said despite the poll debacle, the party’s vote share has not been affected.

However, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said though he is not aware of the vote share, the  victory of the two party candidates is more important for them.
