Conrad to leave for Delhi to get interlocutor nod for HNLC
Shillong,Feb 14: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will leave for Delhi on Tuesday to seek the nod of the Centre for the appointment of an interlocutor for peace talks with the banned HNLC.
“In my visit to Delhi tomorrow…I will be meeting the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and I will be briefing them about the developments taking place and discuss with them on how to take this forward,” Sangma told reporters on Monday when asked about the appointment of an interlocutor.
He said the process is in a very advanced stage and added that the state government has already shortlisted the names of people for appointment as an interlocutor.
“Once we formally communicate and get a signal from MHA, Government of India, we will take the next step forward,” he said.
The HNLC had on February 9 sent its official communication to the state government for peace talks without any preconditions.
