Shillong, Oct 19: A convict from Jowai jail died at NEIGRIHMS, on October 14, a delayed report said.
The 65- year-old convict under POCSO case, Sujit Debnath is from Nartiang.

The death in judicial custody comes at a time when the Jowai jail is facing probe due to the escape of a group of prisoners recently and lynching of four among them by an angry mob.
An official with the Jowai prison said the convict who was unwell was first treated at Civil Hospital, Ialong, West Jaintia Hills and was transferred to NEIGRIHMS where he died of cardiorespiratory arrest.
