Police had sought 8 days but the court granted six days.

The charges against them are for destruction of crucial evidence related to the murder of Raja.

Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police (City) Herbert Kharkongor, who is heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT), said that the three accused persons were brought to Shillong from Madhya Pradesh on a transit remand and were forwarded to court for production.

Tomar was arrested on Monday for destruction and concealment of vital evidence.

The other accused Silome rented out the flat to Vishal Singh Chauhan, one of the main accused in the case.

He and the security guard of the flat were  arrested on Sunday for destruction of evidence.

Kharkongor said the accused persons had destroyed crucial evidence, including a bag containing a laptop and other materials, and had also burnt the bag. The police are now trying to recover the destroyed materials and investigate further.

He said the police will further interrogate the accused persons to find out where exactly they have thrown the laptop.

He informed that whatever materials recovered have been sent for forensic examination and said, “We will see once the report comes what the ingredients were there in the materials.

Herbert said the pistol was recovered based on the preliminary interrogation and statements of the accused persons – Raj Kushwaha and Akash Rajput.

The pistol is illegal and does not have a license registration.

The police are also examining whether the pistol was used as part of a plan to murder Raja. “Though right now that has not been actually revealed but that aspect we will be examining,” Kharkongor said.

To a question, the SP said police did not recover the phone of Sonam, who had claimed that she was using three phones of which two have been destroyed.
