Daily wage earner files election papers, opts for CCTV camera as symbol for transparency
Shillong, Feb 1: A daily wage earner, who is contesting from Mylliem, filed his nomination papers on Wednesday and he chose CCTV camera as his symbol as he believes in transparency and accountability.
The 27-year-old Richard Nongbsap will contest as an independent.
“I have decided to contest the election as I wanted to fight against corruption.That is why I have chosen a CCTV camera as my symbol because I want to ensure transparency,” he said.
Nongbsap stressed the need to bring new rules which will be written in Khasi and Garo languages to ensure transparency in the District Transport Office (DTO).
According to the candidate, he wanted to protect the weaker section of the society and added that Mylliem constituency is yet to be developed.
When asked, Nongbsap said that he cannot say whether he will win or not as it will depend on the decision of the people. “I am a poor man and I expect poor people will support me,” he said.
