Deep depression over Andaman Sea moves northwards

Cyclonic storm likely in next 12 hours

Amaravati, Mar 21 (UNI): Sunday’s deep depression over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, moved nearly northwards with a speed of 20 kmph during the last six hours and lay centered at 8.30 am on Monday over the same region, the India Meteorological Department said.

In a bulletin here, it said that the deep depression is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours. It would continue to move nearly northwards along and off Andaman Islands towards Myanmar coast during the next 48 hours and cross Myanmar coast between latitude 18°N & 19°N around Thandwe (Myanmar) during the early hours on March 23.

Isolated rain or thundershower is likely to occur in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next 24 hours.

The same situation is likely to occur in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema from March 23 to 25. Dry weather is likely to prevail in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is likely at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next five days, the bulletin added.
