Shillong, Dec 14: East Khasi Hills district administration has issued an order prohibiting unauthorized collection of money from commercial and other establishments in the district.
The deputy commissioner wanted all shopkeepers to install CCTVs in their premises.
“With a view to prevent such illegal practice do hereby prohibit all such unauthorised collection from commercial and other establishments and immediate legal action shall follow on any reports or detections to this effect,” Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah said in her order.
“Shop keepers have been directed to install CCTVs in their premises in appropriate locations in the interest of ensuring safety and security and also due coverage of illegal activities in their respective premises,” the order said.
According to the order, there are expressed grievances against unauthorised collection from shop owners, business/commercial establishments under the pretence of donations or serving demand notes which has caused great inconvenience to the owner of those commercial establishments and has also created a fear psychosis in general.
The order said any collection across East Khasi Hills District which are not authorised by the office of Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong or by any other competent authority of government are deemed unlawful.
