Shillong, Jan 8: The gruesome murder of a man in East Jaintia Hills by his own cousin brothers on January 6 was following a drunken brawl over the victim not returning the money he borrowed from the prime accused, police said on Sunday.
According to the police, the head of the victim, Raju Yndoh was split into two due to the forceful use of a sharp weapon by one of the cousins identified as Donbor Yndoh. The dao which was used for the murder was recovered from the site and it was also broken into two parts.
The body of the victim was found at Jalaphet-Bri-Sumer area (in picture) under Saipung.
Raju was coming in his car from Jalaphet along with his two cousin brothers-Donbor and Janki Yndoh- after attending an election meeting.
On the way, they stopped at a place and drank liquor following which a quarrel took place between Raju and Donbor over the delay in returning the borrowed cash.
After committing the crime, Donbor drove the car in high speed leading to an accident.
The duo abandoned the car and walked to Mynthlu village.
They were later picked up from their aunt’s place.
The court granted police custody of the duo for four days after they were arrested u/s 302/34 IPC.
They will be produced before the court on January 12.
