Shillong, Apr 10: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has replaced Bruno Sangma with Abraham T Sangma as North Garo Hills SP on Wednesday.
The decision is after a complaint was lodged by social activist Nilberth Ch. Marak citing family relationship between Bruno and the Tura Lok Sabha candidate Agatha Sangma.
In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari on Wednesday , the ECI secretary Santosh Kumar Dubey said, “I am directed to refer to your letter No. EL.108/2002/383 dated 9th April, 2024 on the subject cited and to state that the Commission has considered the panel of officers proposed by the Home (A) Department, Govt. of Meghalaya and approved the name of Shri Abraham T. Sangama, MPS, Commandant, 2nd MLP Bn. Georagre to be posted as Superintendent of Police, North Garo Hills. Shri Abraham T. Sangma, MPS shall join the duty immediately. A confirmation shall be obtained from the State Government and sent to the Commission by 5.00 PM on 11.04.2024”.
