Education minister for CBSE syllabus in state

Shillong, April 18: The government is planning to adopt the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) syllabus in the state.

“We are now examining the proposal to adopt the CBSE curriculum in order to improve the confidence and standards of our students in the state,” Education Minister  Rakkam Sangma told reporters on Tuesday.

“It may not be whole but certain sections and step by step we are exploring on how to bring the best education environment for the students,” he said.

The minister said the idea is to ensure the confidence and standard of the students of the state will be on par with the rest of the country.

Mathematics

The minister referred to his earlier statement about making mathematics a compulsory  subject so that the students can benefit.

The MBoSE is still continuing with the system of exemption of Mathematics subject for the board examinations.

According to the minister, the government is also planning to build more infrastructure facilities and employ quality teachers to attract the students to schools as he thinks that this will prevent drop-out rate.
