Elon Musk jokes about buying Man Utd
New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI): The world’s richest man and Tesla’s chief executive officer, Elon Musk, once again took internet by storm on Wednesday and sent the football world into a frenzy after he said that he is buying the football club Manchester United and then called it a joke.
“I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome,” Musk wrote on Twitter. His tweet received more than 900,000 likes.
However, the billionaire cleared that he was not going to buy Manchester United, “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams. Although, if it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my fav team as a kid.” Musk posted when a user asked if he was serious about buying a football team.
It has been a painful start to the new season for United as they are rooted bottom of the table table after two defeats. The club has been in decline since Sir Alex Ferguson retired as manager in 2013, and the Glazer family, who have owned the club since 2005, has been facing multiple protests from United fans due to the team’s struggles on the pitch.
