Shillong, April 28: The family of the deceased youth at 3rd Mile, Riatsohkhlur, Upper Shillong, wants the police to register a murder case.
The victim dentified as Vinay Kumar Singh (21)
Police had termed it as a suicide case.
However, the body of. Vinay Kumar Singh(21) was tied with a rope on the railing of Bomver Market Complex near the SBI ATM.
The father of the victim lodged a complaint with the Jhalupara police station on April 26.
According to the father, his son informed him from Laitumkhrah on April 22 during the day that his scooty met with a minor accident involving a maruti car.
The father reached the spot. The damage was minor and the matter was compromised with the car owner at the Laitumkhrah Traffic Police Station. After the incident, his son went to meet a friend in Nongmensong.
When his son did not return home till 7.30 pm, the father started searching for him in and around the city and nearby areas till late night, but could not trace him.
The family also tried to call his friends, but there has been no response.
On April 23 around 9 am, the father received a phone call from the secretary of the village who asked him to immediately come near Bomver Market Complex, Lai Mer, Upper Shillong.
When he reached, the father was shocked to see that his son’s body was tied with a rope on the railing of Bomver Market Complex near the SBI ATM.
The father suspects that his son has been murdered by some persons and thereafter his body was tied with a rope to the railing to make it look like a case of suicide.
“But there is a suspicion that this is a planned murder. The circumstances are highly suspicious and unnatural”the father said.
He asked the police to register the FIR for murder, and interrogate his friend Rohit Rai of Nongmensong whom he last met.
