Farmers begin protest march to Delhi in demand for guaranteed MSP
New Delhi. Feb 13 (Agencies): The farmers’ protest, Delhi Chalo, started on Tuesday amid massive security arrangements along the border of NCR.
The Delhi police enacted Section 144 for the protest march that commenced from Fatehgarh Sahib. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has denied permission to the Centre to convert Bawana Stadium into a temporary jail. In a letter to the chief secretary, Delhi Home Minister Kailash Gehlot said, “The demands of the farmers are genuine. Secondly, it is the constitutional right of every citizen to make a peaceful protest. It is, therefore, incorrect to arrest the farmers.”
Farmers from across the country participated in the march as barricades were raised to stop them. The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha is leading the second leg of the farmer’s protest demanding guaranteed minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.
