Shillong,June 14: A fire incident has led to the arrest of a woman and seizure of ganja in East Khasi Hills.
East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger said information was received of a fire incident at Tyrsad village on June 13 following which the Fire and Emergency Service rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
“During enquiry at the place of occurrence by the officers and staff of Mawngap Police Station, it was found that the ground floor of the house was used for storing cannabis/ganja,” he said.
With the assistance of Anti Narcotic Task Force, seizure of 1001.655 kg of cannabis/ganja was made.
Police registered a case with the Mawngap Police Station and a woman identified as Junita Nongbet (40) was arrested and forwarded to court, the SP said.
