2. No. Tourism. 33/2020/Pt/75 dated Shillong, the 19th October, 2026.
3. Final Call and Ultimatum on the relocation of Shillong Peak Ropeway Project dated 15th October, 2026.
4. Submission to the Briefing on the Shillong Peak Ropeway Project held on 22nd October, 2026 issued by the JAC dated Shillong, the 22nd October, 2026.
Sir/Madam,
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) writes to formally reiterate our unwavering position regarding the Shillong Peak Ropeway Project. It is our primary and non-negotiable demand that remains the same demanding immediate cancellation of the project at its current site at Lum Shyllong while demanding for its immediate relocation to an alternative site/location. Our stance on this matter has been and is final and will not be altered.
Regarding the meeting scheduled for tomorrow we, respectfully submit this letter as our official response in lieu of physical attendance. While we acknowledge the government’s invitation and wish to maintain proper decorum we, find it apt that participating in further discussions would be unproductive. We have consistently articulated our position through multiple prior engagements, making it unequivocally clear that while we are not opposed to the Ropeway Project in principle however, we strictly oppose and cannot accept its present location and Site at Lum Shyllong. Given our previous requests to suspend all administrative meetings aimed at reconsidering this specific location, it is very unfortunate to find ourselves in disappointment by the continued attempts to pursue the Ropeway project at the present site.
4. Joint Chief Executive Officer, Meghalaya Ropeway Development Authority, Shillong – for favour of information and necessary action.
5. Superintending Engineer, Directorate of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya – for favour of information and necessary action.
6. The President/General Secretary, Riat Laban Dorbar Pyllun – for favour of information and necessary action.
