Shillong, Oct 17: Sohphlang festival will be held on October 21.
This first ever festival will be organised by the Seng Samla Balang Catholic Mawkynrew at Holy Cross School Mawkynrew with the aim to promote local indigenous food of the Khasi-Jaintia Hills.
President of the Seng Samla Balang Catholic Mawkynrew, Pynbianglang Kshiar said that the Sohphlang festival aims to promote the indigenous food of Meghalaya especially of Mawkynrew region where Sohphlang is abundant.
Kshiar said the Sohphlang festival is being funded by the tourism department and is being organised in association with the agriculture department and Meghalayan Age.
He said apart from showcasing Sohphlang, the festival will also provide a platform to the farmers of Mawkynrew to display their agricultural produce.
