First unit of Ganol project to function from October: CM
Shillong,April 2: The first unit of Ganol project, West Garo Hills will be functional from October this year according to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma who visited the project site on Saturday.
He said the work is in full swing and efforts are on to complete the project on time
The Opposition MLA Zenith Sangma recently questioned the government over the expenditure involved in the 25.5 megawatt project.
During the March budget session, he rejected the government version of ‘geological surprises’which according to the state had delayed the project.
The original estimate was Rs 177.53 crore in 2007 but the work was delayed in 2008.
The government revised the estimate to Rs 356.43 crore in 2014 and later last year, the revised estimate was Rs 507.71 crore.
