Shillong, April 22: Police arrested five persons for stealing bikes.
East Khasi Hills police said two bikes were stolen early morning on Tuesday from Sunny Hills and 3rd Mile Upper Shillong. The night patrols were alerted and set check points in many places. The bike stolen from 4th Mile was abandoned at Sangmein while the the other bike was intercepted by the police in Pynursla.
“One of the bike thieves escaped after trying to jump the naka while one Nironton Tangsong (24) of Mawryngkang was caught”, police said.
Special Police Cell East Khasi Hills in a follow up, arrested four others-Pius Talang(19), a resident of Pyrdiwah, Lovingstar Surong(18), a resident of Pynursla
Balajied Mawiong(19) a resident of Sohlong,Pynursla, and Banpynskhem Mukhim(19) a resident of Pynursla. The gang has been involved in many bike lifting cases.
