Five women to represent Meghalaya at R-Day programme in Delhi

Shillong, Jan 10: Five distinguished women from Meghalaya will attend the Republic Day Parade this year at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. They are part of a special group of 35 representatives from the North East, showcasing the region’s contributions to the vision of Swarnim Bharat.

There will be 10,000 special guests from across the country. Among them, 35 are from the North East — eight from Assam, 22 from Sikkim and five from Meghalaya.

All five representatives from Meghalaya have been selected under the Ministry of Women and Child Development. They are Grethilla R. Marak from South Garo Hills, Bibiana Dkhar and Julida Dkhar from East Jaintia Hills, Darihun Pyngrope from Ri Bhoi District, and Wenylia Merceeds D. Sangma from East Garo Hills.

These special guests include women entrepreneurs, National Award-winners, and beneficiaries of flagship government schemes.

During their visit, these special guests will not only witness the grandeur of the Republic Day Parade but also visit iconic landmarks, including the National War Memorial and the PM Sangrahalay. Additionally, they will engage in interactive sessions with key government ministers, deepening their understanding of India’s heritage and ongoing governance initiatives.
