Agartala, June 25 (UNI): The maiden flight of Indore-based regional airlines Flybig with 67 passengers took off from MBB Airport here on Friday in a water cannon salute for Dibrugarh of Assam after connecting Guwahati, Shillong and Pasighat of Arunachal Pradesh under UDAN, the central regional connectivity scheme.
Flybig will run a pair of 72-seater ATR flights in Guwahati-Agartala-Dibrugarh route thrice in a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The flight is scheduled to take off from Guwahati for Agartala at 10.35 am and land here at 11.35 am. The same flight will start from Agartala at 12.05 pm for Dibrugarh and will take off from Dibrugarh for Agartala at 2 pm and land here at 3.45 pm. The same flight will leave for Guwahati at 4.15 pm.
“The Flybig operations under UDAN scheme will improve regional connectivity and facilitate the marginalised section to make air travel at an affordable cost in northeastern cities. They also have chartered service every Friday between Shillong and New Delhi,” airport officials said here.
The airline’s officials claimed that the travel on Flybig is cheaper in the region than any other flight, which will soon connect all other important destinations of the North East to boost tourism and regional economy. They observed better connectivity among the northeastern cities would widen the scope for mutual economic growth.
