Form committee to check on Ram temple deals: Maha minister

Aurangabad/Mumbai, June 17 (UNI): Maharashtra Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil on Thursday said a third-party committee should be formed to oversee flow of funds in the Ram temple construction.

Also, state NCP chief Patil’s remark came a day after the BJP and Shiv Sena workers clashed over an editorial published in Saamana.

“If the committee is formed, it can see whether the money collected for the temple construction is being spent transparently,” he told media persons when asked about the corruption charges in the religious project.

He lamented, “Ram devotees in this country want a Ram temple to be built with great devotion, so they are giving large amount of funds. However, if there is corruption in this process, it is unfortunate.”

“Some people are trying to get various political as well as economic benefits by taking advantage of Rama,” he remarked.
