Former top cop gets anticipatory bail in ISRO case
Thiruvananthapuram, August 24 (UNI): Former Kerala DGP Siby Mathew has been granted anticipatory bail in ISRO conspiracy case by the District Session Court here on Tuesday.
The case was filed by the CBI, probing the conspiracy in the ISRO espionage case, in connection with the illegal arrest of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan and two Maldivian women, Mariyam Rasheeda and Fouziyya Hasan, in 1994.
Principal District and Sessions Judge P Krishnakumar granted the bail to Siby Mathew, who led a probe team of Kerala Police had arrested Nambi Narayanan in 1994.
The CBI team initiated the probe in May this year following a Supreme Court direction to inquire into the conspiracy in the case in which scientist Nambi Narayanan was made accused.
The SC also directed the Kerala Government to pay Rs 50 lakh as compensation to Nambi Narayanan for causing him immense humiliation in connection with the 1994 espionage case.
