From Miss Shillong to Mega Miss NE, Gracey’s the queen of hearts

19-year-old Laban girl says she wants to represent state at national level

Shillong, Feb 1: Gracey Nandy, who was among the winners of the three winners of 21st Livon Mega Miss North East 2025, started her journey in the fashion world when she was 16.

The 19-year-old beauty queen, an alumnus of Pine Mount School, participated in Miss Shillong beauty pageant for the first time in 2022.

“I did not win a crown but I was in the Top 10. In the following year, I participated in Miss Teen Meghalaya where I was the first runner-up,” Gracey told Meghalaya Monitor on the phone from Guwahati.

Gracey won the title of Miss Shillong 2024, which paved her way to the bigger platform of Mega Miss North East. Her family — especially her grandparents Nivedita Dey and Ardhendu Dey — has always been supportive through the journey.

In fact, it was her grandparents who were the first to congratulate her on her feat. “I was told that they were on a video call when I was being crowned. Later, they called me and congratulated me. They were very happy,” she said.

Gracey grew up in Laban and completed her secondary education at Pine Mount School. She attended her high school at BK Bajoria School in Shillong. She is a second-year BA student at St Edmund’s College. Her father works as a government employee and her mother is an entrepreneur.

“I have always looked up to my grandparents, my sister, who is also a model, and my mother, who was associated with the fashion world and won titles, for inspiration. For me, pageants are not only a source of entertainment but also a platform where an individual is empowered and an individual’s voice is heard by many,” said Gracey.

Amidst a glamorous evening filled with elegance and cultural pride at the ITA Cultural Complex in Guwahati, Pheiroijam Christina Devi from Imphal and Chayanika Handique from Karbi Anglong were the other two crowned as winners of the 21st Livon Mega Miss North East 2025.

With no runners-up, the trio will share equal privileges and responsibilities, representing the region’s exceptional talent and beauty.

Reflecting on the winners’ journey, Abhijeet Singha, Founder of Mega Entertainment, said, My heartfelt congratulations to Christina, Gracy, and Chayanika for their well-deserved triumphs. Over the years, Mega Miss North East has transformed into a gateway for global opportunities, nurturing talent that continues to inspire communities. This year’s winners embody the spirit of empowerment, resilience, and cultural pride, and I am excited to see them shine on international stages.”

Talking about the road ahead, Gracey said she would love to represent her state on the national platform. “But you need a lot of preparations. That is why I joined Mega Miss North East. Mega Entertainment was very helpful. And the mentors trained us and groomed us in a way that I was in a position to hold a crown,” she explained.

The training also helped Gracey overcome “internal challenges” such as procrastination and self-deprecation.
