George junks reports of him quitting Trinamool
Shillong, May 12: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) state vice president George B Lyngdoh on Thursday rejected the allegation that he would quit the party.
“I reiterate that all media reports claiming that I will be quitting the AITC to join other political parties are untrue, baseless and misleading. I will remain with the AITC, and I have no intention whatsoever to join any other political party,” the Umroi legislator said.
A section of the media had reported that Lyngdoh was among four AITC leaders planning to quit. The Opposition Chief Whip admitted that “certain political parties have approached him” with “promises”.
“This has been going on for the past few months. The offers given to me only displayed the depraved desperation of certain political parties. It also showed the minuscule regard they have for their own local leaders and supporters, and their readiness to stoop to any level in their attempt to poach sitting legislators,” Lyngdoh said.
“Their inducement is an attempt to silence the voices of vocal leaders and make people forget the travails of illegalities and misgovernance that the state and its inhabitants have been going through under the current ruling dispensation,” he added.
The leader blamed the MDA allies for the current state of affairs and asserted that AITC would be the voice of the voiceless.
