Doors still open for peace talks with HNLC

Shillong, Mar 5: The GNLA (R) has resorted to imposing environment and income taxes to raise funds to carry on with its varied activities.

DGP LR Bishnoi told reporters that out of the six youths involved in regrouping of GNLA ,three were arrested and three others identified . “We came to know about GNLA(R), after the Facebook post on February 7 and police have acted”, he said.

North Garo Hills SP Bruno Sangma said police are committed to control militancy.

As far as HNLC is concerned, Deputy Inspector General of Police (TAP) Claudia Lyngwa said the doors are still open for peace talks with the group.
She however said that the mobile phone of the arrested HNLC’s PSO Storgy Lyngdoh has revealed that many extortion demands were made on a lot of people.
Lyngwa said Storgy Lyngdoh had sneaked into Meghalaya from Bangladesh and was arrested by the East Khasi Hills police. He was part of the peace talks.
“There is nothing from our side that this peace talks will not continue, it will still continue and the doors will always open,” she added.
