Shillong, July 24: Goons attacked and robbed a shop owner at Mahadevkhola, Shillong on Monday afternoon.
According to a statement issued by the SP Sylvester Nongtnger, one person came to Mahadevkhola and asked for an Amul Kool drink from one of the shops. He told the shop owner that he would pay her later.
When asked for money, he threw a coconut at her. After her 21-year-old son intervened, a scuffle took place, the SP said in a statement.
Half an hour later, he returned with four others and attacked the woman and her son, stole money from the shop and ran away, the SP said.
The police party from Jhalupara Out Post visited the spot immediately followed by senior police officials.
The mother and son sustained minor injuries and after medical examination and first aid, they were released.
A case was registered at Lumdiengjri PS.
The FIR filed by the shop owner said a group of 9 to 10 people attacked them and took away Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 and a mobile phone.
