Govt against inclusion of unrepresented tribes in councils

Shillong, April 25: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said the government is also against inclusion of unrepresented tribes in the district councils.

“The state government will soon convene a meeting with the three autonomous district councils before taking a final decision on the proposed amendment to the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution”, he said.

He said the final draft of the amendment will be sent to the Centre through the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“I requested the CEM of KHADC to have a meeting among themselves meaning all the three district councils and to also give us some kind of recommendations which are the clauses as right now the village council we really have a problem and number two unrepresented tribes which that time they are deadly against it and even from the state government we are against it”, Tynsong said.
