Govt freezes two bank accounts of CM Jha University

Shillong, Feb 14: The state government on Friday froze two bank accounts of CM Jha University.

The Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, Abhilash Baranwal froze the HDFC account of CMJ Foundation at Lalganesh, Kahilipara in Assam & South Indian Bank account, East of Kailash Branch, New Delhi.

After the Supreme Court order upholding the dissolution of the University on February 13, the education department officials visited the University in Jorabat, Ri Bhoi and secured the campus

Three senior education officials-D Lyngdoh, joint secretary, education department, BD. Cajee, joint director of higher & technical education and F. Rumnong, deputy director of higher & technical education inspected the campus.
The visiting team accompanied by Executive Magistrate of Ri-Bhoi District along with police personnel interacted with the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the University. The team informed the Vice Chancellor and Registrar  that an Administrator for the University will be appointed and that the University should cease all financial transactions, administrative and academic activities. Additionally, the University has been directed to ensure that no assets are moved from the campus, and that no files, computers, hard disks, or other materials are taken away.
