Shillong, Feb 14: The 39th edition of National Games will be spread across the North East while Meghalaya will be the main state hosting the event.
Since infrastructure is a challenge for Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma wanted to hand over certain disciplines to Assam and other NE states as a ‘unique plan’
“in 2027 Meghalaya will host the games in a very unique way by including few games in other states of the North East. While most of the games will be held in Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has a unique plan to spread few disciplines of the games in other parts of the North East. This is a very unique initiative and will go a long way in promoting unity of the North eastern state,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, while addressing the gathering at the closing ceremony of the 38th National Games at Haldwani, Uttarakhand, on Friday.
Shah also handed over the Indian Olympic Association(IOA) flag to Sangma.
Shah extended his greetings to Meghalaya for hosting the games.
The closing ceremony of the 38th National Games was attended by medallists and members of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association.
