Govt lays base for twin projects under Arts and Culture dept

Shillong, Mar 6: The MDA government on Wednesday laid the foundation for revamping of State Central Library Complex  and Tagore Cultural Complex in Rilbong.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma laid the foundation for revamping, redesigning & refurbishing of the State Central Library Complex, Shillong together with Arts & Culture Minister Paul Lyngdoh.

The old infrastructure will undergo transformation into a modern library, attuned to the current needs.

The revamped library will boast state-of-the-art facilities, designed to cater to the diverse needs of our community.

National Library Board has sanctioned  Rs 2. 33 crore in this regard.

The government will also convert the auditorium as Cineplex besides using the facility to hold drama.

Earlier in the day, Paul laid the foundation stone of the Tagore Cultural Complex at Rilbon in the presence of Sanbor Shullai MLA cum Chairman MTDC and officials.

The Tagore Cultural Complex will be constructed with over Rs 14 crore.
