Shillong, Aug 21: The Ri Bhoi district administration has opened alternative routes in border for commuters.
An order issued by the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, Abhishek Saini said that due to blockade on the Byrnihat-Jorabat border, the alternative routes may be taken:
The order of the DC on two routes below
1.
For travellers from Shillong/Nongpoh/ Byrnihat towards Guwahati LGBIA and railway stations.
Alternative routes
Byrnihat-Pillingkata – Killing route,
or
Nongpoh-Patharkhmah – Rani route.
2.
For Shillong-bound travellers arriving from Guwahati LGBIA or railway stations:
Basistha-Pillingkata – Killing route, Rani-Patharkhmah – Mairang route.
All concerned are requested to avoid the Jorabat-Byrnihat road from both the Assam and Meghalaya sides and use the above-mentioned alternative routes.
Travellers are advised to plan their journey accordingly and cooperate with the authorities to ensure smooth movement of essential traffic.
