Shillong, Mar 4: A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the killing of a villager by the BSF in Shella.
The sub-divisional officer of Sohra will head the probe., an official source said on Monday.

According to the police, on March 1, around 8 pm, a confrontation ensued between personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) and some persons at village Daliya of East Khasi Hills about 150 metres away from the International Border (IB) with Bangladesh. During the confrontation, the BSF personnel fired gun shots on the mob due to which one person identified as Asen M. Marak of Daliya village died.
The matter is under investigation to ascertain the facts and circumstances of the incident, the police added.
