State govt says no money in MGNREGS, hence DISHA meeting not held in Shillong & Ri Bhoi: Pala

Shillong, Mar 4: Shillong MP Vincent Pala has said that since the state government conveyed that there is no money under MGNREGS , he did not hold District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committe (DISHA) meeting.

According to Pala, he had held meetings in other districts and the officers in Shillong and Ri Bhoi informed that there is no money to hold the meeting.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had on February 26 pointed out that Pala was supposed to convene the meeting of DISHA.

In reply to a question by Heavingstone Kharpran(VPP), Community and Rural Development Minister AT Mondal had also informed the Assembly that no DISHA meetings were held in Shillong and Ri Bhoi for the last one year.
Conrad claimed that DISHA is not a programme of the state government.
“It is not the state’s responsibility to convene the meeting. Government of India will monitor the central schemes through the MP and it is the MP’s prerogative to convene the meeting as it is directly between the departments and the MP,” he had said.
