Govt preparing DPR for Mawphlang-Mawsynram road
Shillong, Sep 14: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday informed that the department is preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for widening of the Mawphlang-Mawsynram road.
“We have decided to widen and convert it into an intermediate road. Once preparation of the DPR is completed, sanction will be accorded,” Tynsong told the Assembly while replying to a supplementary query raised by Mawphlang legislator Eugeneson Lyngdoh.
Stating that the road is important for West and South West Khasi Hills districts, he said the widening will start from Ladmawreng up to or beyond Weiloi (about 25-26 km), adding that once sanction is accorded, the department will call for tender to start the work.
The deputy chief minister also assured to look into the demand of the Mawsynram legislator Himalaya Shangpliang for considering widening of the road from Weiloi up to Dangar or Balat.
“The road from Mawphlang to Balat has been the oldest road right from Assam time and it needs the attention of the government,” Shangpliang said.
