Shillong, May 10: The state government on Friday reviewed the preparedness of the state goverment for the monsoon season
Commissioner & Secretary in-charge Revenue and Disaster Management Sanjay Goyal chaired a meeting in this regard.
“The normal date for setting in of the monsoon in the state is in the first week of June. We are well prepared in terms of the upcoming monsoon season,” Goyal told reporters after chairing the meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC).
It was attended by officials from the different departments– Health, PWD, PHE, SDRF, civil defence, IMD, education, besides deputy commissioners, who are in-charge of the relief operations in their respective districts.
Goyal said around Rs 20 crore has been placed with the deputy commissioners to handle any kind of eventuality.
Seven deaths & damage to 2800 households
In the pre-monsoon period this year, seven persons have died and over 2800 households have been affected due to rain related incidents in the state.
