Shillong, April 9: The state government will set up an independent agency for the procurement of drugs and medical equipment. The intention of the government is to streamline the system for indenting, supplying, maintaining, and disposing of drugs/medicines.
The Meghalaya Drugs Corporation will be looking into improving the management of drug procurement and supply with special emphasis on logistics along with ensuring quality in drug supply.
Principal secretary in- charge health Sampath Kumar said the process for procurement, storage, supply and on time delivery of all essential drugs, medicines and medical and surgical items to various government facilities, will be streamlined.
The aim is to make medical drugs and medical equipment easily available to the common people of the state besides rendering services to the public.
