“A presentation was jointly done by the three departments on one issue which is how to improve the working system of the PWD be it the new road, be it the construction of the new road, be it the repairing and maintenance of the old roads”, Tynsong told reporters.

Meghalaya is having not less than 10,000 kms of its own roads excluding the national highways and the roads handed over to the NHIDCL.

“We discussed all these details and very soon we will come up with OM,” he said.

“In the presentation, we also discussed the need to categorise even the state roads that we have as to which one is a major road, which one is a minor road, which one is a village road, and which one is the most commercially viable approach roads”, he said.

Tynsong said he has directed the Chief Engineer National Highways to verify the allegation made regarding  the implementation of the road project Dawki-Amlarem-Jowai by the Dhar construction company.

Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “I have instructed the CE National Highways to find out whether the allegation made is correct or not and we will see that such kind of recklessness in execution of projects be it roads or any project in the state of Meghalaya should not happen like that.”

He said the portion of the road is being looked after by RO Station from Guwahati of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
