Govt to initiate reforms in MPSC

Shillong, Sep 20: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma  on Wednesday assured reforms in Meghalaya Public Service Commission ( MPSC) following the demand to do away with personal interviews for grade IV jobs.

In reply to a question by Nujorki Sungoh (UDP), Conrad said in the Assembly that besides the plan to do away with personal interviews, the government has intention to bring reforms in MPSC as there has been delays in the recruitment process.

Nujorki alleged favouritism giving an example that while his graduate friend was not qualified for the personal interview, an applicant with class X qualification was selected.

The chief minister pointed that former chief minister in 2017 had written to the Centre  informing that the state government will not do away with the personal interview.

“However, we are examining the matter. There are pros and cons to this aspect. That is why government is examining all aspects to make sure whatever decision taken is for overall interest which will give better opportunities to the youth of the state,” the chief minister said.
