Shillong, Sep 20: Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma on Wednesday expunged the statement made by Trinamool Congress legislator Mukul Sangma on Tuesday in Assembly about Chief Minister Conrad Sangma being associated with an alleged drug kingpin identified as Henry Lalremsanga.
Mukul had also released the photographs of Henry with the chief minister.
The decision of the Speaker was after heated arguments between Mukul, chief minister besides and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong.
Mukul has decided to bring the matter again in the Assembly seeking reply from the chief minister.
Seeking the need to expunge the statement, Prestone, who is incharge of parliamentary affairs, said that it is only an allegation.
The chief minister too asserted that he meets several people and the photograph should not be linked to any illegal activities.
Mukul objected to the need to expunge his submission by saying that his intention was to caution the chief minister not to associate with people who have negative antecedents.
The same person (Henry) frequents the secretariat besides meeting the chief minister at his residence, Mukul pointed out.
The chief minister said the member (Mukul) should know the status of the case.
Later, the speaker expunged the allegation made by Mukul on Tuesday.
Adelbert brings proofÂ
Adelbert Nongrum (VPP) wanted the speaker to reconsider expunging of his remarks made in the House on Tuesday against the police.
Adelbert released a voice clip regarding the incident during the public hearing on cement plant in East Jaintia Hills and said that since the deputy chief minister wanted proof, he brought it in the Assembly.
However, the speaker refused to reconsider the decision.
