Shillong, Dec 7: The state government has offered additional 1.4 acre of land in addition to the existing 2.14 acre at Municipal building as part of relocation of 342 families of the Harijan Colony from Them Iew Mawlong.
The government hopes to resolve the issue by the second week of January.
The decision was made on Thursday after a meeting attended by the deputy chief minister in-charge home Prestone Tynsong and deputy chief minister in-charge urban affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar with the delegation of the Harijan Panchayat Committee, accompanied by representatives of the Delhi Gurudwara.
According to Tynsong, as per the modified blueprint, beyond the existing area and office of the municipal board with 2.14 acre, the government has considered another adjacent additional plot, which is about 1.4 acre.
So we have shown them the blue print and more or less, things are in line for the final discussion,” he said, adding that the meeting was a very positive one.
“However, we have given them one more round of discussion among themselves.
Once that is done we will meet in the second week of January to finalise everything,” he said.
“Since the HPC has expressed their concerns about some more issues to be discussed among themselves, we allowed them and said please do that and on or before second week of January we will meet again,” Tynsong said.
